Switzerland's annual inflation rate stood at 0.6% in December, the country's Federal Statistical Office said in a report on Tuesday. The figure was down from November's reading of 0.7% and aligned with analysts' estimates.
The consumer price index (CPI) declined monthly by 0.1% to 106.9 points. This decline was attributed to lower prices for international package holidays, as well as medicines and several types of vegetables. Meanwhile, the prices for supplementary accommodation and hotels increased in the reported month.
Core inflation, which excludes fresh and seasonal products, energy, and fuel, was steady from the previous month and 0.7% higher annually. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), used for European comparison, was 0.1% down from the previous month, with a 0.4% annual increase. The average annual inflation reached 1.1% in 2024.
