Swiss retail trade rises 0.3% in February

Turnover in retail sales in Switzerland grew 0.3% in February on the annual basis in real terms, the country's Federal Statistical Office's report revealed on Friday. The figure increased 1.1% in comparison to the last month's reading.

In nominal terms, the retail trade jumped by 3.4% compared with the previous year, with the figure on a monthly basis registering a 1.8% growth.

The closely watched measure of sales excluding service stations increased by 0.2% in real terms and 3.4% in nominal terms when compared on a yearly basis. Month-over-month, the figure climbed 1.7% in nominal turnover and 1.1% in real terms. Sales of food, drinks and tobacco increased by 2.5% in nominal terms in comparison to February last year, while recording a plus of 0.5% against the January reading.
