The unemployment rate in Switzerland came in at 2.6% in September, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) revealed in a report on Friday. The figure advanced by 0.1 percentage points compared to August's rate and came above estimates.
The number of unemployed people in Switzerland was 119,310 in September, rising by 2,492 people from the previous month. The youth unemployment rate increased by 0.4% compared to August and stood at 11,957 people. Year-on-year, the unemployment rate jumped by 24.7%.
According to the report, 38,320 vacancies were reported in September, which is 2,074 more than in the month prior. Meanwhile, the number of registered job seekers stood at 184,373, up by 4,137 people from August.
