Syria and Saudi Arabia are close to reaching an agreement on reviving bilateral relations following the negotiations mediated by Russia, according to a report published by the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
Diplomatic sources familiar with the talks claimed the deal could be announced before the potential visit by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan to Damascus in late April. Saudi Arabia and Syria have been in dispute since the end of the Arab Spring in 2012.
The news of an alleged breakthrough comes two weeks after Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to restore bilateral relations during a trilateral meeting in China by reopening embassies in the next two months.
