Syria's Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs welcomed United States President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Damascus, hailing the move as a "pivotal turning point" for the country.
"The removal of these sanctions offers a vital opportunity for Syria to pursue stability, self-sufficiency, and meaningful national reconstruction," the ministry said on X, adding that Trump's move "reflects a shift towards a more constructive international stance on Syria."
Damascus stands "ready to foster a relationship with the United States that is grounded in mutual respect, trust, and shared interest," the statement reads further, voicing Syria's commitment to a "forward-looking dialogue."
