The Syrian government greenlighted the humanitarian aid intended for victims of a devastating quake to be distributed across all of its territory, including the areas held by the rebel forces, the country's news outlet SANA reported on Friday.
Prime Minister Hussein Arnous approved the delivery in an emergency session, enabling the distribution to cross the state-controlled lines to the regions not held by Damascus.
The United Nations and the Syrian Red Crescent both urged the international community to remove sanctions against Damascus affecting the provision of assistance.
