T-Mobile US Inc. announced on Wednesday that it would partner with Nvidia, Ericsson and Nokia to "drive the future of mobile networks" by using artificial intelligence (AI) and the capabilities of radio access networks (RAN). The companies that were among the founders of the AI-RAN alliance also plan to invest in an AI-RAN Innovation Center in Bellevue, Washington.
"This collaboration between T-Mobile, NVIDIA, Nokia and Ericsson will truly define what's next in mobile networks in the 5G Advanced era and beyond, and drive real progress where it's needed," T-Mobile Chief Executive Officer Mike Sievert said and added that "the partnership will not only propel the mobile network industry forward, but also has the potential to eventually advance many others as well."
The AI-RAN network founded in February is said to have increased capacity, energy efficiencies and resiliency, with the ability to make AI-powered decisions on network performance and traffic routing for various applications and circumstances.
