Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported that 76 Chinese military aircraft and 15 naval vessels were detected near the island between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, with 37 aircraft breaching the Taiwan Strait median line.
The incursion is part of ongoing drills conducted by the People's Liberation Army (PLA), China's armed forces, which launched unannounced "Strait Thunder-2025A" exercises. Beijing previously shared that the exercises so far included live-fire, long-range strikes into the East China Sea, simulating attacks on key ports and energy hubs.
The United States condemned the drills, calling them provocative and destabilizing.
