Taliban says ISIS no longer threat in Afghanistan

The Taliban stated on Saturday that the Islamic State no longer operates in Afghanistan, according to statements made by a government representative.

"There is no ISIS, not just in Nangarhar Province but all of Afghanistan," said Dr. Bashirmal, head of the Taliban's intelligence services, during an interview with Nikkei Asia, adding that on the other side, Daesh is not a threat to national security in the country.

Although the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISIS-KP) only exercises control over a small part of the country, they have launched more sophisticated attacks, making Afghanistan's security situation even more precarious.
