The Microscaling Formats (MX) Alliance, consisting of the aforementioned companies, released the document with specifications "to enable and encourage broad industry adoption and provide the foundation for potential future narrow-format innovations."

Alongside this document, a white paper and emulation libraries, which "provide details on the data science approach and select results of MX in action," have also been made available. The steps taken today are aimed at accelerating the pace of AI advancement, and promoting "openness, accountability, and the responsible development of AI applications," OCP commented.
