Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard said on Tuesday that the main United States interest rate is estimated to peak at around 4.5%.
Speaking at the Barclays-CEPR International Monetary Policy Forum in London, the Fed official stressed that inflation is a "serious problem" for the US, confirming that more rate hikes should be expected at the Federal Reserve's next meetings even though its current monetary policy stance could be described as "restrictive."
He also warned that another economic shock could tip the US economy into a recession.
