Tesla Inc. secured a license for its autonomous rideshare services in Texas on Friday, with Tesla Robotaxi LLC now officially listed on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's website.
The automaker launched its robotaxi service in Austin in June, however Texas' lawmakers warned the company of the new law taking effect on September 1, which regulates autonomous vehicle rideshare operations and requires that those companies have a license just like firms offering ridesharing services with human drivers, suich as Lyft, Inc. and Uber Technologies, Inc.
