Tesla recalls 26,047 Model 3, Model Y EVs in China

EPA-EFE/WANG GANG

Tesla Inc. has recalled 12,003 of its Model 3 electric vehicles (EV) and 14,044 of the Model Y ones produced and distributed in China, that country's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced on Friday.

The SAMR explained the vehicles were recalled due to a software issue that causes valves to remain open for more than needed and the heat pump compressor to stop working. Such a problem could then lead to a fail in heating and consequently defrosting.

The administration added that the plant Gigafactory 3, also known as Giga Shanghai, will address the issue and upgrade the software.
