Tesla Inc. said on Thursday it has shortened the delivery period in China for its Model Y and Model 3 after expanding its production lines at the Shanghai Gigafactory with the goal of making 22,000 vehicles per week.
With the latest upgrade, customers will now receive their Model Y between four and eight weeks from placing the order, with the timeline for Model 3 set at between 12 and 20 weeks. The period was reduced from between eight and 24 weeks for its best-selling cars.
Commenting on the output expansion, Chief Executive Elon Musk argued it presents a more significant challenge for the carmaker compared to the demand.
