Billionaire Peter Thiel agreed to form a partnership between his venture capital company Founders Fund and Elevat3, a German growth venture fund, to jointly invest in technology start-ups in Europe, Apeiron head Christian Angermayer told CNBC on Monday.
Angermayer, whose Apeiron founded Elevat3, revealed Thiel was "a strategic partner" and that he is the owner of a part of Elevat3's gross profit.
Elevat3 plans to invest $121 million in fintech, deep tech, insurance, property and life sciences start-ups in German-speaking countries. Angermayer revealed that Apeiron invested some $20 million in Elevat3 while the rest of the company's funds come from other investors.
