Tokyo's consumer inflation at 3.4% in February

The annual inflation rate for the Ku-area of Tokyo came in at 3.4% in February, lower than expected, the Statistics Bureau of Japan said in a report released on Friday.

The Consumer Price Index also landed significantly lower in comparison to January's reading of 4.4%, which represented its 42-year-high.

Excluding fresh food and energy, the index rose by 3.2%, slightly over the 3.1% analysts projected and 3.0% registered in January. Excluding fresh food, it went up by 3.3%, less than predicted and lower than the 4.3% observed the previous month.
