Toshiba Corporation confirmed on Thursday in a statement previous media reports that a consortium led by investment fund Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) submitted a final buyout bid.
Toshiba explained that it received the acquisition proposal today and will start the process of assessing it. The company went on to say that "no assurance can be given regarding the consummation of an agreement at this stage, whether going private or otherwise," adding, however, that once the final conclusion has been reached the public will be given notice "without delay."
It further promised to act in the shareholders' best interests. Back in November 2022, it was reported that JIP offered ¥2.2 trillion (approximately $15 billion), to take over Toshiba.
