Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. is set to initiate a recall for 167,802 vehicles in the United States due to concerns about seatback bolts not being properly tightened, as announced by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Tuesday.
The NHTSA has released documents detailing that this recall impacts specific 2021-2025 Sienna Hybrid models. The issue arises because the bolts securing the seatbacks of the third-row seats might not be sufficiently tightened. This could potentially result in the seatback failing to properly restrain passengers during a collision.
To address this, dealers will offer to tighten the seat assembly bolts at no cost to the vehicle owners. Notifications about this safety measure are scheduled to reach owners by March 31, 2025.
