Train traffic through the Channel Tunnel, which connects southern England and northern France, was suspended on Thursday due to an unexpected strike by Eurotunnel workers, train operator Eurostar said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Trains held en route 9126, 9018, 9023, 9125 will return to their starting point as are now cancelled," Eurostar stated. In addition, the operator recommended to passengers who have booked a trip for today to postpone it.
"Further updates will follow. We apologise for the impact caused," Eurostar concluded.
