Acting United States Deputy Treasury Secretary David Lebryk will leave that department after a rift with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's affiliates within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) regarding access to sensitive payment systems, the Washington Post (WAPO) reported on Friday, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

According to them, some officials linked to the DOGE demanded credentials for the system the government uses to overlook and distribute the funds worth trillions of dollars on an annual level. However, the sources did not disclose the root of the disagreement on the matter.

Lebryk served briefly as acting Treasury Secretary during President Donald Trump's second tenure until Scott Bessent took over. He was then appointed acting Deputy Secretary.
