United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said on Tuesday that the Trump administration's trade policy regarding China is showing results despite the negative economic impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Lighthizer noted that the trade deficit with China is shrinking as the phase one trade deal continues to produce effects, due to increased purchases of goods from the US.
However, he explained that the widened US trade deficit appeared mostly due to the spike in the import of gold.
