A federal court of appeals upheld on Wednesday the previous ruling preventing the administration of United States President Donald Trump from resuming deportations of Venezuelan gang members.
A three-judge panel voted 2-1 to reject the appeal, effectively barring Trump from promptly removing gang members from the country under the Alien Enemies Act dating back to 1798 that grants the president the power to detain citizens during times of war or other emergencies.
On the other hand, Trump denied that he signed the act that would enable a swift removal of members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang. At the same time, he reiterated his commitment to deporting its members from the US.
