Trump, Netanyahu expected to talk today

EPA-EFE/YURI GRIPAS

United States President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak later today, Barak Ravid of Axios reported on Monday.

According to two sources familiar with the matter, the two will discuss Israel's negotiations about a ceasefire with Hamas and the talks about Iran's nuclear program. Allegedly, the US is seeking to see an improvement amid its efforts to de-escalate the tensions in the Middle East, particularly before State Secretary Marco Rubio's meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Washington on Tuesday.

The call would come after the second round of negotiations between the US and Iran in Rome, during which Tehran reportedly asked the other party for a guarantee it will not leave the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) again. Meanwhile, Iran accused Israel of trying to undermine its talks with the US.
