The Trump administration is firing over 100 employees of the United States Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) civil rights branch, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing five current and former government officials.
According to the report, more than 100 staff members were notified that they would be placed on leave for 60 days to secure another position within the administration or face termination in May. The report stated that US President Donald Trump also shut down the ombudsman office for Citizenship and Immigration Services, which was responsible for reviewing the Trump administration's legal immigration policies.
Last month, the administration reportedly fired around 130 employees of the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
