The Trump administration removed on Tuesday Adm. Linda Fagan, the first woman to lead a US military service, from her role as commandant of the Coast Guard.
The announcement, made by interim Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman, provided no explanation for the decision but marked the first important shift in military leadership under President Donald Trump.
Fagan's removal follows Trump's campaign promises to replace military leaders who promote diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Retired Adm. Paul Zukunft called the move "shocking" and linked it to Trump's stance on such initiatives.
