United States President Donald Trump granted pardons to the three co-founders of cryptocurrency trading platform BitMEX, CNBC reported on Friday.
According to the report, the US president issued the pardons on Thursday for the three BitMEX co-founders, Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed, who were indicted in 2022 for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act after they were accused of not implementing anti-money laundering measures. The trio pleaded guilty and was fined $10 million. Reed, who was BitMEX's chief technology officer, was sentenced to 18 months of probation, while Delo, the company's former chief operations officer, received 30 months of probation. Meanwhile, Hayes was sentenced to six months of home confinement and two years of probation.
The US president also pardoned Gregory Dwyer, the company's former business development chief and BitMEX's operating entity, HDR Global Trading Ltd.
