United States President-elect Donald Trump wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the NBC intentionally left out a significant part of his statement about nuclear weapons when reporting on the issue. He called the broadcaster "dishonest" for purposely stressing his plan to strengthen the country's nuclear capacity and disregarding the second part of his message.
Earlier in the week Trump tweeted that the U.S. needed to expand its nuclear arsenal, but pointed out in the same tweet that it is necessary to do so only "until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes."
The United States has almost 7,000 nuclear warheads out of the world’s total of 15,375, according to the Ploughshares Fund. Russia’s nuclear arsenal is the largest with 7,300 warheads. Yesterday, Russia's President Vladimir Putin confirmed Russia is working on the "modernization"of its nuclear program within international legal norms.
