United States President Donald Trump spoke on Friday about pardoning Nikola founder Trevor Milton, saying that the previous administration, who "went after him," was "vicious" and "violent."
"You don't realize this is a vicious group of people that were in this office before us. This is a vicious group, they are violent," Trump said. "And they went after this man, and when I heard about it, I said, 'Nope, not gonna happen.' They persecuted [him], they destroyed five years of his life ... and he did nothing, and he's a good person," he added.
Milton was sentenced to four years in prison in December 2023 after being convicted of exaggerating claims about his company's production of zero-emission 18-wheel trucks. According to the prosecutors, this caused investors to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. Earlier today, the US president pardoned him "full and unconditionally."
