United States President-elect Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Friday to offer his congratulations to Representative from Louisiana Mike Johnson for winning the speakership of the US House of Representatives.
"Mike will be a Great Speaker, and our Country will be the beneficiary," Trump wrote. "The People of America have waited four years for Common Sense, Strength, and Leadership. They'll get it now." Before the vote, Johnson thanked Trump for his endorsement.
Johnson was re-elected after switching two of the three Republican voters who initially supported other candidates, securing 218 out of 434 votes.
