United States President Donald Trump is expected to attend Pope Francis's funeral later this week, the New York Post (NYP) reported on Monday.
Previously, during the White House Easter Egg Roll, Trump said he could not confirm if he would go or not, saying "[w]e're going to be briefed on it right now." The administration's press secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed his statement.
The exact date of the pope's funeral is unknown; however, according to the rules, the procession must be held within four and six days after a pontiff's passing. According to the late pope's wishes, he will be buried at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome.
