United States President-elect Donald Trump is preparing executive orders that will reverse his predecessor's policy regarding tailpipe emissions rules and abolish limits on offshore drilling while seeking to boost the US fossil fuel industry, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, Trump will sign "dozens" of executive orders on his first day in office, introducing significant changes to the country's energy policy. He is expected to instruct the federal agencies to overturn President Joe Biden's ban on offshore drilling which the report said could be legally challenging. In addition, Trump is also expected to sign executive orders relating to immigration and education immediately after taking office on January 20.
During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to make the US the global energy leader and significantly increase fossil fuel output.
