United States President Donald Trump is anticipated to sign an executive order on "significantly" reducing the headcount in the federal government, Semafor reported on Tuesday citing a White House fact sheet.

According to details given to the media outlet, the order would enact the billionaire Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) "workforce optimization initiative," which would not only lower the staff number but also limit future hiring.

Each agency will have to "undertake plans for large-scale reductions in force," with chiefs instructed to cooperate with DOGE to get the task done.
