United States President Donald Trump said he met with a Japanese delegation to discuss trade matters, announcing on Truth Social that "big progress" was made. He described the meeting as "great honor" but gave no details on what was agreed.

Earlier, Trump said he would attend the talks on Wednesday to negotiate tariffs, American military support and what he called "trade fairness." In a post before the meeting, he wrote, "Hopefully something can be worked out which is good (GREAT!) for Japan and the USA!"
