US President Donald Trump dismissed concerns over recent semiconductor exports to China, insisting the NVIDIA H20 model is "obsolete" and already available there in another form. Speaking on Monday about the agreement between NVIDIA Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) Trump said the H20 is "an old chip" that China can already replicate or combine from existing technology.
He added that NVIDIA's most advanced chip, the Blackwell, remains off-limits, describing it as "the latest and greatest in the world" and noting no one will have it for five years. Trump said he might consider allowing China to receive a downgraded Blackwell version with 30% to 50% of its capabilities, but not the complete model.
He also noted negotiating for a 20% return to the US on H20 approvals, framing it as a benefit "for our country."
