During a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday, US President Donald Trump said the United States has "almost perfect inflation," pointing to falling prices in energy and groceries, including a 4% drop in egg prices.

He praised the current inflation rate, claiming it's headed toward the "beautiful number" of 2%, and may even reach 1%, which he called ideal.

However, Trump warned that zero inflation is not desirable.
