United States President Donald Trump is expected to greenlight a high-tech aircraft the Air Force sees as crucial to countering China's military rise in the coming decades, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
According to the sources, the move could mark the creation of what could become the most costly fighter jet ever built. The piloted aircraft are expected to enter service in the 2030s and operate in coordination with semi-autonomous drones. Trump is expected to make the announcement later today at a joint conference with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, on the same day billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk visits the Pentagon.
