Russia says has shot down over 160 planes, helicopters

The Russian Army's Air Defense Forces have shot down more than 160 planes and helicopters, 3,000 drones, and more than 1,700 missiles and rockets during the war, the Head of the Russian Armed Forces' Air Defense, Alexander Leonov, said Monday.

"Until December 25, 2022, the proportion of enemy air targets destroyed by the Russian military air defense systems is more than 60 percent of their total losses," Leonov told the newspaper Red Star.

Leonov emphasized that the downed targets also included missiles of the US High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
