United States President Donald Trump called on Thursday for balancing the US budget in a social media post in Truth Social.
In his post, the president called for action while stressing the positive income from tariffs recently approved. Trump has long advocated for tariffs to boost domestic manufacturing and government revenue.
The federal budget hasn't been balanced since the Clinton administration. However, according to the Treasury Department, the deficit for the current fiscal year, which started October 1, is $711 billion.
