Trump vows to 'vigorously' pursue death penalty

United States President-elect Donald Trump pledged on Tuesday that after his inauguration he would direct the Department of Justice to "vigorously pursue the death penalty" to protect US citizens from violent crime.

"We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!" promised Trump in a post on TruthSocial. He previously criticized incumbent President Joe Biden for commuting 37 death row sentences which he said would leave friends and relatives of victims "further devastated."
