United States President Donald Trump stated that the Gaza ceasefire deal should be canceled if all Israeli hostages are not released by Saturday noon, as per the original agreement between Israel and Hamas.
"Saturday at 12 o'clock and after that I would say all hell is gonna break out. And I don't think they're gonna do it, I think a lot of hostages are dead," Trump noted. "I'm speaking for myself, Israel can override it," he further explained. Additionally, Trump said he believed Jordan will agree to take in refugees from Gaza, despite the statements to the contrary. The president mentioned the possibility of pausing US aid to Jordan and Egypt unless both countries agree to accept Gazan refugees.
Earlier on Monday, Hamas delayed the hostage release originally scheduled for Saturday, February 15 until further notice. The militant group accused Israel of violating the agreement by obstructing the return of displaced Gazans to the enclave's northern areas.
