Trump: Epstein hoax was started by Dems

US President Donald Trump reiterated on Wednesday that the Jeffrey Epstein files were a "hoax" made up by past Democrat administrations.

"It is a hoax started by Democrats and run by Democrats for four years. You had Christopher Wray and Comey before him … It's all been a big hoax perpetrated by Democrats. Some stupid Republicans fall into the net," he said when asked if he was planning to release the files. Trump added that those who "keep bringing up the Epstein hoax" are "stupid people."

Trump has faced backlash from his base after defending his administration's review of the files and downplaying his supporters' distrust in the process. Earlier, the FBI concluded it had no evidence that the convicted sex offender blackmailed powerful figures, kept a "client list," or was murdered.
