United States President Donald Trump slammed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, saying he is "always too late and wrong" and insisting he should have cut interest rates "long ago." Trump also criticized Powell's speech yesterday, calling it a "complete mess." Powell warned that tariffs could prevent the Fed from reaching its goals for 2025 and that they could have a "more persistent" impact on inflation.

Trump insisted that the prices of oil and groceries are down and that the US is "getting rich on tariffs." He stressed Powell "should certainly" lower rates now, adding that his "termination cannot come fast enough."
