Former United States President Donald Trump stated on Friday that if he wins the presidential election, billionaire Elon Musk would be the US "cost-cutter."
"I'm going to get Elon, and he is great at this, he's going to be our cost-cutter. I think he can save trillions," Trump said during his speech in Michigan. "He wants to see this country be great, and having his endorsement is a great endorsement. We will get him involved, and mostly on that side."
The Republican presidential candidate suggested in August that he was considering the tech billionaire for a cabinet or advisory role if he gets re-elected in November. At the beginning of September, Trump confirmed that Musk agreed to head a government efficiency commission that would conduct "a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government," which the Tesla Inc. CEO proposed to the former US president.
