United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the US-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement will end the "NAFTA nightmare," boost the country's GDP and create jobs. The North American Free Trade Agreement led to a loss of one-fourth of all manufacturing jobs and one-fifth of all jobs in the US, the president claimed.
Just before he was about to sign the deal, Trump thanked those who supported its ratification, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The USMCA ensures benefits for the American auto industry, including a new plant in Detroit for the first time in decades, Trump noted.
