"Stephen has a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, and served with distinction in my First Administration. He has been with me from the beginning of my Second Term, and his expertise in the World of Economics is unparalleled - He will do an outstanding job," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account and added that his administration will continue to search for a "permanent replacement."

Earlier this month, following the resignation of former Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler, the president stated that he is "happy" about the open spot on the board.
