Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated on Monday that his country is willing to build trust and start a "new era" in its relations with South Korea.

Speaking to reporters in Seoul following his meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, Kishida expressed his belief that people-to-people exchanges between the two countries will "deepen mutual understanding and develop bilateral ties."

Meanwhile, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing industry sources, that Kishida is hopeful the cooperation between Japanese and South Korean businesses would contribute to the strengthening of the ties between the two nations.
