United States President Donald Trump revealed, in a post on Truth Social, that "world leaders and business executives" asked him for "relief from tariffs." The president added "it's good to see the world knows we are serious."
"They must right the wrongs of decades of abuse, but it won’t be easy for them. We must rebuild the Wealth of our Great Country, and create true RECIPROCITY," Trump stated.
In addition, the president provided a list of what he called "non tariff cheating" methods. According to Trump, these include "currency manipulation," value added taxes (VATs) which he said "act as tariffs and export subsidies," and other government measures such as protective agricultural and technical standards, among others.
