Tsunami threat issued for Cuba after earthquake

The United States Tsunami Warning Center warned of the continuing threat of a tsunami in Cuba after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 occurred north of Honduras at 6:23 pm ET, its depth is 33.7 kilometers.

The tsunami is expected to reach 1 to 3 meters above tide as well as in Honduras and the Cayman Islands where it may reach 0.3 to 1 meter above the tide.

An aftershock with a magnitude of 4.8 and a depth of 10 kilometers occurred 232 kilometers northeast of Barra Patuca in Honduras at 6:51 pm ET. The tsunami warning has since been withdrawn.
