Hakan Topkurulu, the deputy head of Turkey's Vatan Party, told TASS news agency that Russian President Vladimir Putin's comments on using a hypersonic missile without a nuclear warhead in Ukraine were a strong message to the West.
Topkurulu added that Putin's statement made it clear such missiles could carry nuclear warheads if needed. Topkurulu also emphasized that Russia's updated nuclear doctrine and Putin’s willingness to use nuclear weapons if necessary serve as a deterrent to a larger global conflict.
The remarks followed Russia's successful test of its new intermediate-range ballistic missile, Oreshnik, which Putin confirmed on Thursday
