Turkey condemns Israel's military expansion in Gaza

UNSPLASH / TARIK HAIGA

Turkey's Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized Israel's latest actions, condemning its plan to expand military operations in Gaza and continue illegal settlements in the West Bank. In a statement Wednesday, the ministry described these moves as a blatant violation of international law and a step away from any peaceful resolution.

The ministry also denounced a visit by an Israeli official to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling it a deliberate provocation that escalates tensions in the region. It urged the international community to take a firm stance to prevent further destabilization.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a significant expansion of military operations in Gaza, including the seizure of "large areas that will be incorporated into Israel’s security zone." Katz also mentioned a large-scale evacuation of Gaza's population from combat zones but did not provide details.
